The Ontario Positive Space Teachers’ Association is proud to announce the launch of our network website on Tuesday May 17, and we invite you to celebrate with us in Hamilton.
OPSTA was founded by five secondary school teachers in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. It is an independent network established through an Ontario Ministry of Education TLLP seed grant, and endorsed by OSSTF District 21.
As an online, user-generated entity, OPSTA supports Ontario educators in their efforts to eliminate homo-bi-trans-phobia and heterosexism in schools through the creation of Positive Space Groups (PSGs) and explicit links to the Ontario curriculum. It provides educators with a bank of practical resources and strategies to build Positive Space core capacity with senior management, administrators, teachers and educational staff, parents, students, and community members.
On and after Tuesday May 17, please join us in the launch of our efforts to hold space for Ontario LGBTQ students and their straight allies. You can access our website www.opsta.com, follow us on Twitter, and like us on Facebook.
