Looking for LGBTQ youth for Brock research on smart teens

Brock researchers Shauna Pomerantz and Rebecca Raby of the Child and Youth Studies department at Brock university are looking for LGBTQ youth between 13 and 16 years old and who consider themselves smart to participate in a study.

The purpose of this study is to talk to smart girls and boys about their experiences of being smart in their schools. Participants will be asked to participate in two one-hour long interviews and to fill out a short, five-minute questionnaire. Participants can either be interviewed by yourself or with a friend.

Participants will have the opportunity to be involved in a university research project and therefore to learn a little bit about how research is done, you will have the opportunity to discuss personal experiences in a completely confidential environment, and will also have the satisfaction of knowing that they are contributing to an important area of research. Participants will also receive a gift certificate for $20 to the Penn Centre for participating in each interview. As well, there may be an opportunity for you to participate in an end-of-study pizza lunch party, where we invite all participants to hear some of our initial findings and to offer feedback.

Interested young people are welcome to learn about this study without any obligation to participate and participants may  may also withdraw from the study at any time.

If you have any questions about this study or require further information, please contact Shauna Pomerantz or Rebecca Raby.
