OUTniagara AGM

Keynote: Arnoldi/McPherson Social Media Strategy – will be presenting to our partner organizations and their members the advantages of social media for non-profits, what forms it takes and how to best implement them for your group. As well, Janice (Arnoldi) and Robin (McPherson) will demonstrate how our partner organizations can access and use the OUTniagara website for their own postings of news and events.

This is going to be a valuable meeting for all organization partners of OUTniagara. We will get through our business quickly to allow more time for the Social Media presentation.

The Cliks have become a vehicle of expression for the mantra of changes that they have had over their 3 releases. Newcomer Lexi Tellings has begun heating up the Canadian airwaves with her unique voice including the hit song “Nirvana” and latest song “Buy Me A Drink”.  New to the Canadian music scene, Lexi Telling’s pop tracks have been making a reputation on the dance floors for the catchy hooks, soaring vocals and addictive beats. 

DJ Pierre Fitch has gone through extensive training with experts from the industry, spending the past two years learning all technical aspects of his new career path. Equipped with the best mixers and turntables available on the market, Pierre ensures to provide high quality music by carefully selecting tracks he downloads for his performances. Without surprises, his great taste for music has already invaded several clubs, festivals and venues across Canada, USA and Latin America. Not to forget that he has also toured Australia and launched a podcast on iTunes throughout 2011.

DJ Cat has been spinning in Toronto’s gay community for 14 years at such places as Pope Joan, Fly, Vice and Crews and Tangos.  She has also been spinning at Pride Toronto for the last 3 years.  Her style is that of the crowd pleaser where she does whatever she can to get you up and on the dance floor.  She loves spinning house/dance/electro but has also a twisted love of retro and disco – so when you are on the dancefloor, be ready, because she will take you on a fun-filled ride!  www.gtadj.com

The “Pathways Study” is a community-based research project that seeks to understand women and/or trans people’s experiences with depression as well as their use of mental health services.

We are recruiting 900 participants of all sexual orientations, abilities and ethno-racial backgrounds to share their experiences by filling out a confidential and anonymous online survey that takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. About 40 of the 900 online participants will also be asked to do a one hour semi-structured interview with a member of the Pathways Research Team to discuss their experiences.

We are especially trying to reach women and trans people who experience multiple stressors associated with their race, class, gender, sexual orientation and/or gender identity. You will be compensated for your participation with a $10.00 President’s Choice gift certificate, or a donation to charity.

A primary goal of this project is to find out what happens when people seek help or treatment for their emotional or mental health. Our goal is to help make changes to mental health services.

Key Note Speakers will be the founders of the St. Catharines Social Media Club; Janice Arnoldi and Robin McPherson. Janice and Robin will discuss the methods and tools that our partner organizations can use  to communicate with their members and connect their message and programs to the community through social media.  As well, they will give our partner organizations a brief tutorial on posting on  the OUTniagara website.
